Why do so many students struggle?
Many remarkable students struggle through mathematics because they were never taught HOW TO STUDY MATH.
One false, but common idea is that math will either fall inside your head (a math person) or it won’t (non-math person). This isn’t true. Like any SKILL some will find it easier to learn than others but the advances in science, technology and business won’t allow many to run from it much longer.
This is one of the areas where The Algebra Foundations for Adults Workshop, gives adult students a boost. It provides an innovative, convenient, and practical way to study math so it can be learned with confidence. Our Adult-Focused Approach was designed specifically for adults. This course understands your unique learning needs and addresses some of the real-life math applications encountered daily.

Work with me LIVE to solve problems in real world context. You’ll not only discover how to work through to the correct answer, but learn why I choose one problem solving method over the other.
In this small group workshop, I explain the problem setup, the steps I take to solve and why I take them. I also demonstrate how to work through those fuzzy middle parts, and most importantly how to check your final answer and become a powerful self directed learner.
Notes of the lesson will be available after each meeting, plus recommended practice. This is your opportunity to practice on your own and work on the most important concepts. Master how to stay on study track.
Worktext: You can review everything you’ve learned by working through the bonus worktexts. These worktexts include tons of extra practice problems and are a great way to reinforce what you just learned in that section.
The Algebra Foundations for Adults Math Refresher Workshop is a small group section (7-students MAX) designed to reinforce the concepts ADULTS need to master to be confident going back to school. Each workshop session runs 3-weeks. We’ll meet 2 times each week for a total of six sessions.
During these LIVE -60min sessions, I will not only demonstrate HOW to do the problem but WHY a particular technique was chosen.
Learn HOW TO SAVE TIME by recognizing the KEY INFORMATION in a question and how to use speedy calculation techniques to solve a problem.
Who is For?: Adults over 35+ who want a dose of math confidence to take with their math class.
Why Participate: To do well in math – YOU MUST PRACTICE MATH! YOU MUST LEARN HOW TO USE THE TOOLS. This small group workshop was created to give students wanting more practice the opportunity to work with a live instructor and ask questions. The more time students spend practicing working and recognizing the concepts the better the result.
When will it be held: For your convenience, this workshop is offered over three weeks 2- 60 minute LIVE sessions each week plus UNLIMITED practice online.
You will be able to select a convenient Day/Time combination to attend the live workshop sessions.
Where will it be conducted: Live online classroom.
Who will teach the workshop: Math Tutor TJ. Tjaye has been a mathematics educator for over 15 years and has proven track record of student success. I’m here to demystify concepts, provide real-world examples, and ensure you never get stuck again.
What will I receive? Immediately after registration you will receive the instructions for attending the Live Workshop and all of your workshop materials. The login information for the online practice software will arrive in a separate email after the 1st live session.
After each session I’ll send over session notes to help reinforce what we covered during the day. Furthermore, math will no longer be an obstacle.

As long as you are able to RECOGNIZE the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division you'll be fine! In these workshops, we learn to use math in context, so we're never lost. Plus there are plenty of opportunities to brush up on rusty skills. You'll get up to speed in no time!
Absolutely! Students tend to enjoy smaller workshops. They tell me that they feel like they're really learning something. They get to work "autonomously together" and enjoy an engaging and fun environment. No one gets lost in the background.
You will need Pencil/Pen and paper. This is a live workshop and you will want to take notes. A handheld calculator that you are comfortable using. Scientific or Business preferably. Although phones have a calculator app, I don't recommend the phone calculator for the workshop. All other materials are included in the price of the workshop and will be available for download immediately after registration. You will need a pdf reader to view the files. To prevent your registration materials from being flagged as spam please add tjaye@mathtutortj.com to your safe sender list.
This will be a LIVE workshop with other live students. Only those present will receive the full benefit. While I may record portions for my review these recordings will not be for distribution. Notes are provided at the end of each workshop meeting so you'll always know what happened.

We're scheduled to meet just two hours per week for three weeks. So please check your schedule to make sure you're free to meet during your registered time. Besides those set meetings, the amount of time you spend working on skill building is up to you. I provide study blueprints and suggested learning strategies that you are encouraged to incorporate into your schedule. As with any learning opportunity, the level of result is directly tied to the level of input.
Seating is strictly limited per section, so please review your schedule carefully. If you experience an unexpected change in your schedule please contact me and we'll see what we can do to accommodate the change.
