F-A-Q
-I’ve been out of school for a very long time. Can you help me?
Yes! The human brain is capable of extraordinary feats. If you’re serious about sharpening your math skills, I CAN HELP.
-How is this different from other types/methods of tutoring?
It’s more than tutoring – it’s YOUR private instructor in a classroom of one. Traditional tutors offer homework help or assist students with the work assigned by their teacher. This method is great for those students who need a little help grasping a concept. However, if a student has major learning gaps (missing fundamental concepts), homework help alone is of little benefit. Math Tutor Tj sessions are extensive and designed teach or reteach concepts. Not merely repeat classroom lessons.
-How often will I/my child need to attend sessions?
The final decision is yours. I recommend that students with an IEP for math or those earning a ‘C’ or below attend sessions at least twice per week. This allows us to address any learning gaps as they occur.
-Is tutoring ongoing or is this a fixed session program?
This depends on your goals. Some students only need a kick start, while others prefer ongoing support. Additionally, several skill specific sessions are held throughout the school year.
-Why aren’t more tutors/teachers using your methods?
There’s very little opportunity for extended one-on-one instruction in schools. Most teachers would love the chance to address each student’s strengths individually, but there are other students in the class.
This is my full time business. My PRIMARY goal is to help students of any age remove the math barrier that prevents future academic progress. To that end, I design plans that address each student’s individual goals. No two students are the same, therefore no two plans are the same. Not many educators have that option.
-How much does tutoring cost?
Sessions are individually priced. I also offer discounted prepaid packages and monthly plans. Please request a FREE introductory phone consultation to discuss your particular situation.
-How do online sessions work?
They’re conducted live using an online conference room. Students don’t need to download any software or have any high priced special equipment. Broadband internet, web browser, headset and/or telephone is all that is necessary.
NOTE:
NE Ohio weather and traffic can make online sessions very convenient. However, online learning isn’t always the best method for studying math.
I prefer to meet with a student a few times in person before moving into online sessions. If online sessions are your preferred option, please mention that when requesting your introductory phone consultation. We’ll discuss a suitable strategy.
